Using videos to market your skills to prospective employers is the perfect way to get ahead of the
competition and bring your skills and experience to life. ALO Live Candidates is a job board where
candidates can market themselves through videos and profiles. No more old-fashioned CVs, Hooray!
Your ALO Consultant will support you in creating a winning video but a few tips to keep in mind.
1. Be detailed but concise! The best videos are between 60 and 120 seconds long.
2. Practice! Take 2! Plan what you want to say before recording your video. Focus on what
value you can add and any career highlights. Talk about previous work experience, your skills
and attributes and your ambitions for the future.
3. Be authentic! A video allows you to show prospective employers your personality beyond a
piece of paper! Always be professional but don’t be afraid to be yourself!
4. Show up! Just like a face-to-face interview you want to look your best when creating your
video. Use a white clutter free background and dress to impress. Remember first
impressions count!

ALO has ripped up the rule book when it comes to permanent recruitment. ALO believes the biggest
problem with the recruitment industry is the fact it is actually a sales industry with recruitment being
secondary! Yes, there is a place for ‘traditional’ permanent recruitment. If a business recruits a
handful of times a year with different disciplines in different locations the recruitment consultant
